The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers will be gunning for a third straight win after edging out the Rockets in a 115-112 home win on Sunday. Tobias Harris led the team in scoring with 23 points on nine of 15 shooting while Danilo Gallinari added 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and just five of 25 from the three-point line but the bench stepped up late in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter as Montrezl Harrell scored 17 points on eight of 10 shooting while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander chipped in with 12 points.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been one of the hottest teams to start the season and they will be aiming for a third straight win after blowing past the Kings in a 149-129 home win on Friday. Nikola Mirotic led the team in scoring with 36 points on 14 of 21 shooting, Anthony Davis added 25 points with 10 rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 15 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot a healthy 59 percent from the field and 16 of 31 from the three-point line as they never looked threatened on their way to their highest single-game point total in franchise history.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 20-9-1 ATS in their last 30 road games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-15 ATS in the last 20 meetings in New Orleans.
The Clippers have now won two straight games over two quality opponents in the Thunder and the Rockets, but it’s hard to get too excited as both of those opponents were missing their starting point guards in Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul. The Pelicans look to be the in-form team of the league at this early stage and they’ve covered in 15 of 20 meetings against the Clippers at home so they’re certainly favorites here. I like what the Clippers have done in their last two wins but the Pelicans have been on fire and it’s hard to see them tripping up here on three days’ rest.
