The Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Clippers were building a bit of momentum with wins over the Thunder followed by the Rockets, but they fell back to Earth with a 116-109 loss at New Orleans on Tuesday. Tobias Harris led the team with 26 points, Danilo Gallinari added 24 points while Lou Williams chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field but just five of 20 from the three-point line as they led for most of the game until the third quarter where the Pelicans took over with a 21-4 run.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have really struggled to start this season and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Jazz in a 100-89 home loss on Wednesday. James Harden led the team with 29 points and seven assists, Carmelo Anthony added 22 points off the bench while Clint Capela chipped in with 10 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Rockets shot just 40 percent from the field and 11 of 40 from the three-point line so you have to point some of the blame at Eric Gordon who shot just five of 21 for his 11 points. Chris Paul sat his second of his two-game suspension so he is free to return to the court.

Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 1-5 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Rockets are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games following a double-digit loss at home and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.

Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings and the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

The Rockets have really struggled on the defensive end and things only got worse once Chris Paul received a two-game suspension for his fight with Rajon Rondo. Now is the time for Rockets to bounce with a home win to steady the ship but they’ve covered in just two of their last eight home games while the Clippers have covered in five of the last six meetings overall. This could go ether way, but I’m leaning towards the pesky Clippers to pull off the minor upset with the Rockets still going through some growing pains.
