The Detroit Pistons play host to the Boston Celtics at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been playing well below their best to start the season but they will be looking to build on Thursday’s 101-95 win at Oklahoma City. Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring with 24 points, Marcus Morris added 21 points off the bench, Al Horford added 19 points while Kyrie Irving chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 38 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the three-point line but they still managed to claw their way to a narrow win despite trailing by as many as 16 points late in the third quarter and by nine points with just 4:22 left in the fourth.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have hit the ground running this season and they will be gunning for a fifth straight win after sneaking past the Cavaliers in a 110-103 home win on Thursday. Blake Griffin led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds, Andre Drummond added 26 points with 22 rebounds while Reggie Jackson chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Pistons shot a healthy 52 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the three-point line but the difference was on the boards where the Pistons won the rebounding battle by 65-34.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall, 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record. Meanwhile, the Pistons are 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings in Detroit, the road team is 7-0 ATS in the last seven meetings and the Celtics are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Detroit.
The Celtics have really struggled at this early stage of the season as they continue to work through their new rotations, but they were good enough to escape with the unlikely comeback victory on Thursday. The Celtics have covered in each of the last five meetings in Detroit, but the Pistons have been in great form with four wins on the trot. This could go either way, but I’m staying with the Celtics to keep the game close with their defense before pulling away late.
