The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Los Angeles Lakers at the AT&T Center on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have had a predictably rough start to the season but they will be feeling a little better following their 121-114 home win over the Nuggets on Thursday. LeBron James led the team with a triple-double of 28 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists, Kyle Kuzma added 22 points while JaVale McGee chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the three-point line but this win was all about their play in the fourth quarter where Lance Stephenson sparked a decisive 15-2 run with consecutive three-pointers. Defensively, the Lakers had no answer for Nikola Jokic until LeBron guarded him in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have split their first four games of the season and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting blown out by the Pacers in a 116-96 home loss on Wednesday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 18 points and four assists, Marco Belinelli added 16 points while LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with just 15 points on five of 18 shooting. As a team, the Spurs shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 19 from the three-point line while allowing the Pacers to shoot 53 percent from the field and 17 of 32 from the three-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 1-5 ATS in the last six games following a win, the Spurs are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the over is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings, the Lakers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in San Antonio.
These two teams last met on Monday and it was the Spurs who escaped with a 143-142 overtime win on the back of a game-winning shot from Patty Mills. The Lakers will know that they let one slip away last time as LeBron missed on two big free throws late in the game and they’ve improved so much since then. With that being said, I’m leaning towards the Lakers coming away with the narrow win in this one.
