The Memphis Grizzlies travel to Salt Lake City to battle the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday.
The Memphis Grizzlies have won four of their first six games of the season and they will be aiming for a third straight win after blowing past the Wizards in a 107-95 home win on Tuesday. Garrett Temple led the team in scoring with 20 points, Mike Conley and Mac Gasol each had 19 points while Shelvin Mack chipped in with 14 points and eight assists off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 28 from the three-point line as they outscored the Wizards by 61-50 in the second half to run away with it late. Defensively, the Grizzlies held the Wizards to 43 percent shooting and they did that by forcing John Wall into nine turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in solid form themselves as they were aiming for a fourth straight win before falling to the Timberwolves in a 128-125 road loss on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 26 points and five assists, Rudy Gobert added 22 points on nine of 12 shooting while Jae Crowder drained five three-pointers to finish with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Jazz shot 49 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the three-point line but there was just no stopping the Timberwolves’ Derrick Rose who turned back the clock with a career-high 50 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a road trip of seven or more days and 0-6 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the Grizzlies are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Utah and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
Unfortunately for the Jazz, Mitchell is expected to miss Friday night’s game with right hamstring tightness which is a big loss against an improving Grizzlies team who have been flying under the radar to start the season. With that being said, I still think the Jazz are good enough to get the win at home, but the Grizzlies have covered in each of the last four meetings and I think they make it five in this one.
