The Washington Wizards and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.
The Washington Wizards will be breathing a major sigh of relief after snapping an ugly five-game losing streak with a 108-95 win over the Knicks on Sunday. John Wall led the team with 26 points, seven assists and five steals, Bradley Beal added 22 points, Markieff Morris added 16 points while Jeff Green chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 43 percent from the field and six of 26 from the three-point line but the key to the win was the team’s defense as they were finally able to hold an opponent under 107 points for the first time this season. It wasn’t pretty as the Wizards blew a 13-point third quarter lead, but they were able to force the Knicks into a season-high 20 turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks will be looking to snap a six-game skid after falling to the Knicks in a 118-106 home loss on Friday. Dennis Smith Jr. led the team with 23 points on eight of 14 shooting, Dorian Finney-Smith added 19 points off the bench while Luka Doncic chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the three-point line as they looked to have the early ascendancy over the Knicks, but a slow start coming out of halftime and found themselves trailing by as many as 17 points in the third quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 2-14 ATS in their last 16 road games, 0-5 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a double-digit loss at home and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the road team is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas and 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Wizards have been the league’s worst defensive team so far, but they were aggressive on Sunday and got the win over the Knicks on the back of forcing turnovers. If the Wizards come out with the same intensity, I like their chances against a new-look Mavericks team going through their own struggles. With that being said, I’m still not sold on the Wizards yet and the Mavericks have covered in 10 of the last 11 meetings overall, so I’m leaning towards the home team in a close one.
