The Denver Nuggets have been in a bit of a slump lately but they will be breathing a little sigh of relief after snapping a four-game skid with a 138-93 home win on Thursday. Juan Hernangomez led the team with 25 points and nine rebounds, Paul Millsap and Gary Harris each had 18 points while Trey Lyles and Jamal Murray each scored 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Nuggets shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the three-point line as they built a comfortable 16-point lead at halftime before outscoring the hapless Hawks in the second half by 65-36. With the much-needed win, Denver improved to 10-5 overall and 7-3 at home where they had lost three straight before Thursday.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans look to have recovered from their six-game losing streak as they’ve now won four of their last five following their 129-124 home win over the Knicks last night. Anthony Davis led the team with 43 points, 17 rebounds and five assists, Jrue Holiday added 24 points with 10 assists, Julius Randle scored a double-double of 19 points with 11 rebounds while Nikola Mirotic chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Pelicans shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the three-point line as they outscored the Knicks by 41-28 in the fourth quarter to overcome an 11-point deficit.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five against the Western Conference, 6-1 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Pelicans are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 home games, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings in New Orleans and the Nuggets are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in New Orleans.
The Nuggets were on an ugly slide before exploding in that massive win over the Hawks on Thursday and it could be two wins in a row as they’ve already beaten the Pelicans in a 116-111 home win back on Oct 29. However, the Pelicans have been in great form lately and are coming into this one fresh off a thrilling comeback win over the Knicks but it’s always tough to replicate that effort on the second night of a back to back set. The Pelicans have won six of their seven home games and expect to have Elfrid Payton available for this one so I’m taking them to come out on top in a close one.
