The Atlanta Hawks and the Miami Heat duke it out at the American Airlines Arena on Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games but they will be feeling much better after snapping a 10-game skid with a 124-123 home win over the Hornets on Sunday. John Collins led the team with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Kent Bazemore added 20 points and five assists off the bench, Trae Young had 18 points with five assists while Taurean Prince and DeAndre’ Bembry each scored 16 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 53 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line as they overcame an early 13-point deficit to beat the Hornets in the final seconds thanks to Collins who blocked the potential game winning shot from Kemba Walker in the final second of the game.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have lost seven of their last nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Raptors in a 125-115 road loss on Sunday. Dwyane Wade led the team with a season-high 35 points and six assists off the bench, Josh Richardson added 19 points while Bam Adebayo chipped in with 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. As a team, the Heat shot just 41 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the 3-point line but despite some late-game heroics from Wade who broke the record for most points by a Miami bench player, the Heat never threatened in a game where they trailed by as many as 26 points. With the loss, Miami dropped to 7-12 overall and 4-5 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a win. The Heat are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games, 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games following an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the under is 22-6 in the last 28 meetings in Miami, the Hawks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall but just 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami.
The Hawks managed to escape with a much-needed win over the streaky Hornets on Sunday, but wins have been few and far between for the Hawks this season. The Heat haven’t been much better than the Hawks and they actually lost to them by 123-118 back on Nov 4. I've been fading the Hawks all season, but the Heat have failed to cover in each of their last five home games and I expect that trend to continue as the Hawks scrap to keep this one close.
