The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Miami Heat at the FedEx Forum on Friday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last nine games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting blown out by the Jazz in a 111-84 road loss on Wednesday. Rodney McGruder led the team in scoring with 16 points while Kelly Olynyk chipped in with 14 points, but no other player finished in double figures as the Heat shot just 37 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line. The Heat came out flat to start the game and found themselves fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 40-15 going into the second quarter and things only got worse as the Heat trailed by as many as 42 points. With the loss, Miami dropped to 11-16 on the season and 6-7 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their last seven games and they will be looking to build on their 92-83 home win over the Trailblazers on Wednesday. Mike Conley led the team with 23 points, six rebounds and six assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 14 points while MarShon Brooks chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot just 41 percent from the field and they got just nine points out of Marc Gasol, but in a one-point game, it was Conley who sparked a decisive 13-0 run late in the fourth quarter to run away with the game. With the win, Memphis improved to 16-11 on the season and 9-4 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record, 12-4 ATS in their last 16 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings in Memphis, the favorite is 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Heat are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Memphis.
The Grizzlies haven’t been at their absolute best but they will be high on confidence after rallying late in the win over the Trailblazers on Wednesday. The Heat have been inconsistent all season so you don’t know what you’re going to get from them after they fell behind by as many as 42 points against the Jazz in their last outing. The Heat will come out firing after getting embarrassed on Wednesday but I don’t think it will be enough as the Grizzlies pull away late at home where they are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games.
