The Sacramento Kings play host to the New Orleans Pelicans at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Lakers in a 112-104 road loss on Friday. Anthony Davis led the team with 30 points, 20 rebounds and five assists, Julius Randle added 21 points while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 43 percent from the field and eight of 27 from the 3-point line but there was no stopping LeBron James who racked up a triple-double of 22 points with 12 rebounds and 14 assists. With the Pelicans still shorthanded, E’Twaun Moore played 32 minutes off the bench but finished with just 10 points on four of 18 shooting. With the loss, New Orleans fell to 15-18 overall and 4-13 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games and they will be looking to build on Friday’s 102-99 home win over the Grizzlies. Buddy Hield led the team with 28 points on nine of 24 shooting, De’Aaron Fox and Bogdan Bogdanovic each scored 14 points while Willie Cauley-Stein chipped in with 12 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Kings shot 37 percent from the field and 15 of 41 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by as many as 19 points in the second quarter before taking over in the second half where they outscored the Grizzlies by 62-46. With the win, Sacramento improved to 17-15 overall and 8-7 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. The Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings and the Pelicans are 8-18-1 ATS in the last 27 meetings in Sacramento.
Nikola Mirotic has missed the last four games for the Pelicans and he is listed as doubtful for Sunday which is a big loss for the slumping Pelicans. The Kings have been so bad for so long that I’m just used to seeing them lose games left and right, but they’ve been one of the surprise teams of the league and they will be feeling confident as they’ve won seven of their past 11. This one could go either way, but the Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall so that’s where I’m leaning in this one.
