The New York Knicks and the Charlotte Hornets do battle at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a slump as they've lost four in a row and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short against the red-hot Rockets in a 123-112 road loss on Monday. RJ Barrett led the team with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists, Julius Randle added 17 points with 12 rebounds and three assists while Dennis Smith Jr. chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and seven steals. As a team, the Knicks shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line, but their defense was shoddy in the first half and it cost them as they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by 15 points at halftime.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a worst slump as they've lost 15 of their last 19 games and they will be hoping to snap out of their funk after getting destroyed by the Pacers in a 119-80 road loss on Tuesday. Miles Bridges led the team with 17 points while Caleb Martin chipped in with 11 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Hornets shot 33 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line, but you just knew early on where this game was going as the Hornets were already trailing by 25 points at halftime. Devonte' Graham sat out the game and his status is unclear due to load management reasons.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The Hornets are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days' rest and 21-5 ATS in their last 26 games against a team below .400.
Head to head, the over is 18-7-2 in the last 27 meetings overall and the Knicks are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Charlotte.
Here we have two of the worst teams in the league as the Knicks have lost four straight while the Hornets have been in worse shape. These two teams have already met twice this season with the Hornets winning each game by single digits, but the Knicks are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Charlotte and they are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games overall. With that being said, I'm looking at the Knicks to avoid the series sweep with a win in this one.
