The Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out at the Chase Center on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a tear lately as they've won eight of their last nine games and they will be gunning for a seventh straight victory after sneaking past the Pelicans in a 118-109 home win on Tuesday. LeBron James led the team with 40 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Anthony Davis added 21 points with 14 rebounds and six blocks while Danny Green drained five 3-pointers to finish with 17 points and four assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 44 percent from the field and 13 of 44 from the 3-point line as they wrestled with the Pelicans for three tight quarters, but they were able to get key stops in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been in poor shape as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games and they will be hoping to avoid an eighth straight defeat after getting routed by the Kings in a 112-94 home loss on Tuesday. Marquese Chriss led the team with 21 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Andrew Wiggins added 16 points, Damion Lee scored 15 points while Jordan Poole chipped in with 13 points and four assists. As a team, the Warriors shot just 44 perecent from the field and a miserly four of 28 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 12 points going into halftime, before getting blown off the court in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games against a team with a losing home record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Warriors are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the over is 28-13 in the last 41 meetings in Golden State and the Lakers are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Golden State.
The Lakers have been in fine form and are building nicely towards the playoffs, while the Warriors have continued to stumble their way through their injury-plagued season. It is the classic case of two teams headed in opposite directions, but the Lakers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Warriors are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games. The line seems a little hefty, but I can't see the Warriors having the firepower to hang in the contest.
