The Portland Trailblazers play host to the Sacramento Kings at the Moda Center on Saturday night.
The Sacramento Kings have quietly been playing some of their best basketball of the season as they’ve won six of their past eight games, but they are coming into this looking to bounce back after getting routed by the 76ers in a 125-108 home loss on Thursday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 23 points and seven assists, Buddy Hield added 22 points off the bench, Harrison Barnes scored 15 points with five assists while Kent Bazemore chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Kings shot 53 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line but it still wasn’t enough to hang with the shorthanded 76ers who dominated from the tipoff to lead by as many as 20 points in a one-sided affair.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers really struggled with injuries in recent games as they’ve lost six of their past nine games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after making light work of the Wizards in a 125-104 home win on Wednesday. Carmelo Anthony led the team in scoring with 25 points, Hassan Whiteside added 24 points with 16 rebounds and four blocks while Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum each scored 22 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 51 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter before holding the Wizards to just 18 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 24 points in what was a much-needed win.
Head to head, the under is 18-6 in the last 24 meetings in Portland, the Kings are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Portland and the Kings are 2-6-1 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Kings haven't been in good form over their last 20 games or so, but they are coming into this one fresh off a bad beating at the hands of the shorthanded 76ers. The Trailblazers understandably fell into a rut when Damian Lillard went down, but with him back in the lineup, the Trailblazers are picking up steam with a couple of wins on the trot. The Kings are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Portland and I think that trend continues here as the Trailblazers simply need this win as they currently sit just outside of the playoff picture looking in.
