The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the San Antonio Spurs at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Sunday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in decent form lately as they've split their last 10 games and they will be feeling pretty good about themselves after snapping a four-game skid with a hard-fought 104-102 home win over the Nuggets last night. Kevin Love led the team with 27 points on nine of 17 shooting, Collin Sexton added 25 points with five assists while Cedi Osman chipped in with 20 points on seven of 12 shooting. As a team, the Cavaliers shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 12 of 28 from the 3-point line as they fell into an early 11-point deficit, before responding with a combined 62 points in the second and third quarters to give them the chance to steal it late.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a real slump lately as they've lost nine of their last 13 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Nets in a 139-120 road loss on Friday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 24 points and nine assists, Trey lyles and Derrick White each scored 19 points while Rudy Gay chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Spurs shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line but this game was over before it began as the Spurs were always fighting a losing battle after getting outscored by 41-22 in the first quarter.
Head to head, the over is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings overall, the Spurs are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Spurs are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have been dealing with a littany of injuries, but that hasn't stopped them from playing some of their best basketball of the season. The Spurs have endured a disappointing season to date and they're coming into this one off a bad loss to the Nets, so their confidence will be low. The Spurs are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Cleveland, but I think the Cavaliers surprise us again with another solid effort here.
