Chris Paul vs. Allie Quigley
HORSE: Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 7:00 pm
The Line: Chris Paul -300 / Allie Quigley +200 -- Over/Under:
Chris Paul and Allie Quigley meet Sunday in a NBA HORSE quarterfinal matchup.
Chris Paul has been one of the better point guards in the league for the last 15 years and he has that edge to him that makes me think he’ll take this tournament seriously. CP3 is quite competitive and I don’t expect that to change in a game of HORSE. While Paul is known for his perfectly timed passes, he’s also a career 47 percent shooter from the field and 37 percent shooter from deep. Paul can get hot from anywhere on the court, but his passing accuracy also allows him to get creative and maybe mix in something before a layup or shot attempt. CP3’s ability to pass and shoot makes him one of the favorites to win this tournament.
Allie Quigley is a combo guard for the Chicago Sky, and she’s a three-time all-star as well as a two-time three-point shootout champion. Quigley shoots a career 45.6 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from deep. Quigley can make some fancy turnaround jumpers and she has some of the best range in the WNBA. Quigley makes a high percentage of her midrange shots and she could try to get some cheap letters just by knocking down wide open jumpers. However, Quigley is going to have to get quite creative to have a chance in this contest, as I have a feeling it’s going to take more than pure shooting in the half court to advance.
You can make a case Chris Paul should be favored to win this tournament because of his shooting ability as well as his accuracy as a point guard that would allow him to throw in some wrinkles before a shot or a layup attempt. CP3 also has a 10-year-old son who probably wouldn't let him hear the end of an early exit. Quigley is one of the more underrated players on the women's side and can hold her own shooting wise, but I like CP3 a lot in this tournament and I'm certainly not betting against him to get bounced in the first round.
CP3 to the semifinals.
