Overseas Elite is set to take on Armored Athlete in The Basketball Tournament on July 9, 2020 at Nationwide Arena. Get NBA picks and predictions at Sports Chat Place.
Overseas Elite has the 2nd seed in this tournament. The team is coached by Marc Hughes. Hughes has a roster with the likes of: Frank Sessions, Devon Baulkman, Bobby Brown, Justin Burrell, Pooh Jeter, Joe Johnson, Michael Kyser, Raphiael Putney, Xavier Silas, Ashauhn Tatum, and Dakarai Tucker.
This is a team that is projected to be one of the best and is currently the highest seed remaining. Carmen’s Crew had the highest seed in the tournament, but was knocked off by House of ‘Paign. Johnson needs no introduction, as the former Brooklyn Net had himself a nice NBA career. Johnson played his college years at Arkansas. Baulkman played two seasons at Tennessee and averaged over 7 points per contest. Brown was a staple at Cal State Fullerton, starting 103 of 116 games. Brown saw his point total go up each season, starting at 13.2 his freshman year and rising to 20.2 his senior year. Jets played his college career at Portland, collecting an average of at least 15 points during his final 3 years. Silas played at both Colorado and Northern Illinois. During Silas final two years at Northern Illinois, the guard averaged 19.7 and 22.3 points respectively.
Armored Athlete is coming off a 98-91 win over Power of the Paw. Armored Athlete was led in scoring by John Roberson. Roberson collected 26 points on the day, while also passing out 5 assists. The contributions of Scott Machado can’t be overlooked, as he recorded 23 points and 2 steals. Armored Athlete out rebounded Power of the Paw 31-30, while also winning the points in the paint, 44-36.
Overview: Overseas Elite will be well rested and will be looking to put the momentum that is carried by Armored Athlete to a halt. Overseas Elite has the 2 seed for a reason, as the talent is off the charts. While no wins are guaranteed in this tournament, as fans saw first hand with Carmen’s Crew being upended. With a prize of $1million being up for grabs, fans can expect to see each team's best. However, I just can’t see the top 2 seeds being eliminated this early during The Basketball Tournament. I’m going to side with Overseas Elite to get the job done in this 2 seed vs 15 seed matchup.
