The Dallas Mavericks take on the Phoenix Suns at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Sunday night.
The Dallas Mavericks are coming into this game looking to bounce back after getting dropped by the Rockets in a heartbreaking 153-149 overtime loss on Friday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 39 points and 16 rebounds, Luka Doncic racked up a triple-double of 28 points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists, Trey Burke scored 31 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 24 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 21 of 49 from the 3-point line as they led for most of the game and looked to be in control until the Rockets rallied to force overtime where they would steal the game late. Doncic had a mixed night as he also committed eight turnovers before fouling out while Seth Curry finished with just three points in 23 minutes of action.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns really don't have too much to play for at this stage of the season, but they looked solid in their easy 125-112 win over the lowly Wizards on Friday. Devin Booker led the team with 27 points and four assists, DeAndre Ayton added 24 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks while Ricky Rubio steered the offense with 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the Suns shot 52 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 67 points in the first half before pulling away with 36 points in the fourth quarter to make it a blowout.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games following a loss, 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Suns are 1-5 ATS in their last six Sunday games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Mavericks are 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and the Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Phoenix.
The Suns will be feeling good after making light work of the Wizards in their last outing, but now they're up against a Mavericks team who are coming into this off a painful loss. The Mavericks are just 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall, but I fully expect them to bounce back and they've found an ideal opponent in the Suns.
