The Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz collide at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form, but they are coming into this one looking to bounce back after getting trounced by the Raptors in a 107-92 loss on Saturday. LeBron James led the team with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, Kyle Kuzma added 16 points while Anthony Davis scored just 14 points on two of seven shooting. As a team, the Lakers shot just 35 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line as they held the Raptors to just 18 points in the second quarter to take the early lead, before getting blown out in the second half where the Raptors poured in 66 points behind a big game from Kyle Lowry. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored just five points on two of seven shooting while Danny Green finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have won six of their last eight games, but they will be hoping to get back to winning ways after getting blown out by the Thunder in a 110-94 loss on Saturday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 13 points and four assists, Mike Conley scored 12 points while Rudy Gobert chipped in with just 10 points. As a team, the Jazz shot just 39 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 56-42 in a horrendous first half performance. Jordan Clarkson was particularly cold as he shot just four of 17 to finish with 11 points off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 Monday games, 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss. The Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 3-12-1- ATS in their last 16 home games against a team with a winning road record and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Utah, the Lakers are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Utah and the Lakers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Lakers have already beaten the Jazz twice this season and they will be keen to bounce back after getting embarrassed by the Raptors on Saturday. The Jazz will be disappointed with themselves after shooting themselves in the foot against a motivated Thunder team in their last outing. The Lakers could win this easily if they come in with the right mindset, but there is clearly more on the line for the Jazz and I think they'll be good enough to at least get the cover here.
