The Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trailblazers collide in a pivotal Game 4 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Monday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers will be hoping to take a commanding 3-1 series lead after taking down the Trailblazers in a thrilling 116-108 win on Saturday. LeBron James led the way with 38 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, Anthony Davis added 29 points with 11 rebounds and eight assists while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Lakers shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they were a little slow out of the gates and found themselves trailing by nine points, but they took control of the game with 40 points in the third quarter before holding the Trailblazers to just 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers will be looking to bounce back and level the series after falling short to the Lakers in Game 3. Damian Lillard drained five 3-pointers to lead the team with 34 points and seven assists, CJ McCollum added 28 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 20 points and four steals. As a team, the Trailblazers shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they got off to a strong start, but they just couldn’t make their shots in the fourth, while the Lakers’ Davis just couldn’t miss from the perimeter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five playoff games as a favorite, 2-5 ATS in their last seven Conference Quarterfinals games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Trailblazers are 16-34-2 ATS in their last 52 Conference Quarterfinals games, 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Portland, the Lakers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Portland and the Lakers are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Lakers have yet to really find their groove in the bubble, but they’re growing in confidence in this series and will only get stronger as players return to the lineup. The Trailblazers have been one of the best teams in the bubble and they weren’t far off in Game 3, so while the Lakers are the clear favorites here, I just feel that this is too many free points to be giving a desperate Trailblazers team.
