The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trailblazers duke it out at the Moda Center on Thursday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a serious rut as they will be looking to put a halt to a five-game skid after falling short against the Nuggets in a 123-116 road loss on Tuesday. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 33 points and 11 assists, Juan Hernangomez added 25 points on 10 of 14 shooting while Malik Beasley and Anthony Edwards each scored 15 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 18-point deficit with 43 points in the second quarter, only to go ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 20 points.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have lost three of their last four games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Bulls in a 111-108 home loss on Tuesday. CJ McCollum led the team with 26 points on 10 of 21 shooting, Damian Lillard added 24 points with nine assists while Robert Covington chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot just 41 percent from the field and 19 of 51 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first quart to lead by as many as 20 points, before getting outplayed by the Bulls the rest of the way as they couldn’t make the most of their open looks down the stretch. Lillard shot just six of 17 from the field as the Trailblazers scored just 23 points in the fourth quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record, 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog and 17-35-1 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Trailblazers are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games, 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Head to head, the under is 11-1-1 in the last 13 meetings in Portland, the Timberwolves are 6-20-2 ATS in the last 28 meetings in Portland and the Timberwolves are 14-39-2 ATS in the last 55 meetings overall.

The Timberwolves have really struggled without their best player in Karl-Anthony Towns in the lineup, but they’re a dangerous team that has the potential to explode for 43 points in a quarter as they showed against the Nuggets on Tuesday. The Trailblazers are still searching for consistency and they will be disappointed that they blew a 20-point lead against the shorthanded Bulls on Tuesday. The line is very hefty, so I’m tempted to take the Timberwolves here, but the Trailblazers are just about at full health and they just seem long overdue for a blowout win. The Timberwolves are 20-6-2 ATS in the last 28 meetings in Portland and I think that trend continues as the Trailblazers snap out of their funk with a big win here.
