The San Antonio Spurs pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Sunday night. 

The San Antonio Spurs have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their first nine games and they will be looking to build on their current three-game win streak after last night’s 125-122 overtime win over the Timberwolves. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 38 points and five assists, Dejounte Murray added 22 points with 14 rebounds and four assists, Patty Mills scored 21 points off the bench while Keldon Johnson chipped in with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 43 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-point line as they forced overtime on the back of free thitems from DeRozan with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter, before opening the overtime period with a pivotal 10-4 run.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have really struggled this season as they’ve lost seven of their first nine games and they will be hoping to bounce back after last night’s tough overtime loss to the Spurs. Malik Beasley led the team with 29 points on 11 of 20 shooting, Karl-Anthony Towns added 25 points with 13 rebounds and four assists while D’Angelo Russell and Naz Reid each scored 16 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they really took it to the in-form Spurs from start to finish. Russell had a poor shooting night as he made just seven of 22 from the field, but it was good to see Towns putting up numbers after missing his previous six games.

Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on zero days rest and 6-2 ATS in hteir last eight games overall. The Timberwolves are 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 17-36-1 ATS in their last 54 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Spurs are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota.

It’s a classic case of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Spurs are starting to heat up after a slow start to the season, while the Timberwolves have been in a free fall without Towns in the lineup. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in two nights, but the Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on zero days rest and I think they can keep their momentum going with another win and cover here.
