The Atlanta Hawks invade the Target Center to do battle with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent form this season as they’ve split their first 14 games and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after outlasting the Pistons in a 123-115 overtime win on Wednesday. Trae Young led the way with 38 points and 10 assists, John Collins added 31 points with 11 rebounds, Clint Capela scored 27 points with 26 rebounds and five blocks while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and nine of 24 from the 3-point line as they trailed by as many as 17 points before rallying to force overtime thanks to a clutch assist from Young and a last-second block from Collins at the end of regulation. The Hawks fell behind once again by five points at the start of overtime, but their defense held firm as they closed the game on a 17-4 run to escape with the win.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 10 of their first 13 games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling painfully short against the Magic in a 97-96 loss on Wednesday. D’Angelo Russell led the way with 19 points and six assists, Naz Reid added 14 points while Malik Beasley chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 42 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they held the Magic to just 10 points in the second quarter to lead by 20 points, before the Magic rallied in the second half to win the game with a 3-pointer at the buzzer thanks to Cole Anthony who had scored just 10 points before hitting the game-winner.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 9-19 ATS in their last 28 road games, 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 4-12-2 ATS in their last 18 games against a team below .400. The Timberwolves are 9-25 ATS in their last 34 home games, 9-19 ATS in their last 28 games following a loss and 13-27 ATS in their last 40 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Hawks are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Minnesota and the Hawks are 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.

The Hawks have been on a nice run lately and they will take so much confidence from their comeback overtime win over the Pistons in their last outing. The Timberwolves have been one of the worst teams in the league and they will be feeling flat after losing to the Magic at the buzzer on Wednesday. The Hawks are 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall, they are the team in better form and I think they get the win and cover here.
