The San Antonio Spurs and the New Orleans Pelicans duke it out at the Smoothie King Center on Monday night.

The San Antonio Spurs have been in decent form as they’ve won nine of their first 17 games of the season and they will be looking to build some momentum after making light work of the Wizards in a 121-101 home win last night. Patty Mills led the team with 21 points off the bench, Lonnie Walker added 16 points, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 15 points while Dejounte Murray racked up a triple-double of 11 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going in the first half, before making it look easy in the second half where they poured in 73 points. Seven Spurs players finished in double figures in scoring and the Spurs committed just eight turnovers.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in a serious slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight loss after falling short against the Timberwolves in a 120-110 road loss on Saturday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 30 points on 11 of 20 shooting, Eric Bledsoe added 28 points on 11 of 23 shooting, Zion Williamson scored 19 points with 11 rebounds while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 11 points and seven assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they took the lead at halftime, but they were always fighting a losing battle after going ice-cold in the third quarter where they managed just 14 points.

Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record. The Pelicans are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games playing on one days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.

Head to head, the Spurs are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in New Orleans.

The Spurs have yet to really get going this season, but they will be eager to maintain their momentum after last night’s impressive win over the Wizards. The Pelicans have been struggling mightily and they are coming into this one fresh off a loss to the slumping Timberwolves which can’t be good for their confidence. The Spurs are playing this one on zero days rest, but they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in New Orleans and they represent decent value as the underdogs in this spot. Give me the Spurs to escape with the minor upset in this one.
