The Portland Trailblazers and the Philadelphia 76ers collide at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in decent form as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be hoping to build some momentum after taking down the Wizards in a 132-121 road win on Tuesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 32 points and eight assists, Gary Trent Jr. added 26 points on eight of 16 shooting, Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points off the bench while Robert Covington chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 46 percent from the field and 21 of 46 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter, before blowing the lead out to 21 points in the third quarter against the leaky defense of the Wizards.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their past 11 games and they will be aiming for a fifth straight win after last night’s 118-111 road win at Charlotte. Joel Embiid led the team with 34 points and 11 rebounds, Tobias Harris added 26 points with four assists, Danny Green scored 16 points while Ben Simmons chipped in with 15 points and nine assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they never looked in danger in this one after dominating the first quarter by 30-13.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a winning home record. The 76ers are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Trailblazers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Philadelphia and the Trailblazers are 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Trailblazers will be looking to stay hot after their dominant win over the Wizards, but the 76ers have been on a tear lately and it’s going to take a monster effort to get past them, especially with CJ McCollum still sidelined. The Trailblazers have the advantage of an extra days rest here as the 76ers played just last night, so while I like the 76ers to get the win, I think the Trailblazers hang around long enough and get the cover.
