The New Orleans Pelicans and the Chicago Bulls do battle at the United Center on Friday night.

The New Orleans Pelicans will be hoping for a better showing in this one after getting routed by the 76ers in a 117-97 home loss on Wednesday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 23 points while Devonte’ Graham chipped in with 18 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Pelicans shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to tie the game going into halftime, before getting completely blown off the court in the second half where they were outscored by 64-44. Jonas Valanciunas had a night to forget as he scored just nine points on three of 19 shooting.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls will be gunning for a second straight win to start the season after outlasting the Pistons in a hard-fought 94-88 road win on Wednesday. Zach LaVine looked to be in mid-season form as he led the way with 34 points, seven rebounds and four assists on 11 of 17 shooting, DeMar DeRozan added 17 points, Nikola Vucevic scored 15 points with 15 rebounds and four assists while Lonzo Ball chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Bulls shot 43 percent from the field and seven of 23 from the 3-point line as they fell behind early after scoring just 14 points in the first quarter, before making their run in the second half to escape with the narrow win.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog. The Bulls are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games playing on one days rest.

Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall and the Pelicans are 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Chicago.

The Pelicans will be shorthanded once again as Zion Williamson remains without a timetable for his return, so they’re going to have to play really well to get past a revamped Bulls team who grinded away a narrow win against the Pistons in their first game together. The Bulls looked ugly on offense to start the game on Wednesday and I expect them to continue to work through some growing pains, but in their first home game together, I think the Bulls win run away with it in this one.
