The Indiana Pacers invade Little Caesars Arena to do battle with the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a real slump lately as they've lost six of their past seven games and they will be hoping to snap an ugly four-game skid after last night's 104-94 loss to the Nets. Domantas Sabonis led the team with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Malcolm Brogdon added 15 points with six assists while TJ McConnell chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot just 39 percent from the field and 15 of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and were never really in the game after managing just 30 points in a nightmarish first half performance. The Pacers fell behind by as many as 36 points before scoring 64 points in the second half to keep the final scores respectable.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in rough shape as they've lost nine of their past 12 games, but they will be looking to build some momentum now after snapping a four-game skid with a 122-111 shock win over the Nets on Tuesday. Jerami Grant led the team with 32 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Delon Wright added 22 points with nine assists while Saddiq Bey chipped in with 15 points on six of six shooting off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and 13 of 29 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter, before pulling away in the second half where they led by as many as 20 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Pistons are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games as a home underdog.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Detroit, the Pacers are 0-3-1 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Pacers are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit.
The Pacers will be desperate to snap out of their funk with a much-needed win here, but it might be tougher than they think as the Pistons are coming into this one fresh off a win over the Nets while the Pacers just got blown out by the Nets last night. The Pacers are also playing this one on zero days' rest and they are only 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit. With that being said, I'm taking the Pistons to build on their last win with another upset in this one.
