The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night.

The Boston Celtics haven’t quite hit their stride yet as they’ve lost five of their first nine games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the surging Heat in a dominant 95-78 road win on Thursday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 17 points, Dennis Schroder added 14 points and six assists off the bench while Al Horford chipped in with 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot just 39 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line, but their defense was on point as they held the Heat to just nine points in the second quarter to turn an eight-point deficit to a 16-point halftime lead. Jayson Tatum is still struggling with his shooting as he finished with just 10 points on three of 13 shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their first eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Spurs in a 109-108 road win on Wednesday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 31 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 23 points while Luka Doncic racked up 23 points with 12 rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and eight of 34 from the 3-point line as they struggled for most of the game, before rallying back from a 10-point deficit to edge out the Spurs late in the fourth quarter where they used a pivotal 7-2 run to escape with the narrow win.

Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games following a win of more than 10 points. The Mavericks are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record.

Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Celtics are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Dallas.

The Celtics were one of the most disappointing teams in the league as they’ve struggled to build any momentum, but you get the feeling that it’s all about to change after they looked so good against the Heat on Thursday. The Celtics still have issues on the offensive end as Tatum is still working his way through a shooting slump, but they know they can win a lot of games when they defend as they did on Thursday. The Mavericks haven’t been too bad lately and it’s good to see them get more contributions from other players not named Doncic, especially with Kristaps Porzingis still out. This is a tough one to pick, but I’m taking the Celtics to continue their hot streak with another win here.
