The Miami Heat play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the American Airlines Arena on Sunday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a slump lately as they’ve lost 10 of their past 14 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting stopped in their tracks by the Thunder in a 118-109 road loss on Friday. John Collins led the team with 25 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Clint Capela racked up 17 points with 21 rebounds and four blocks, Trae Young added 17 points with eight assists while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by eight points going into halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where they trailed by as many as 17 points. Danilo Gallinari scored just eight points on two of eight shooting while Young shot just seven of 21 from the field.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their past 12 games and they will be aiming for a sixth straight win after taking down the red-hot Jazz in a 124-116 home win on Friday. Jimmy Butler led the team with a season-high 33 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Goran Dragic added 26 points off the bench, Bam Adebayo added 19 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists while Duncan Robinson chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Heat shot 51 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they hung with the league-leading Jazz for three tight quarters, before holding the Jazz to just 22 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the impressive win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Heat are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games, 7-16-1 ATS in their last 24 games against a team with a losing record and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 20-7 in the last 27 meetings in Miami.
The Hawks have been in a rut lately and their confidence must be low after getting routed by the Thunder on Friday, while the Heat have really been playing some of their best basketball of the season and they’re starting to get their troops back as Dragic has looked great since his return. The Heat are 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall and I think they can build on that trend here against the Hawks who have looked out of sync lately.
