The Indiana Pacers invade the American Airlines Center to do battle with the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Pistons in a 116-111 home win on Wednesday. Caris LeVert led the team with 28 points, six rebounds and four assists, Edmond Sumner added 18 points off the bench while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game with 36 points in the second quarter, before holding on for the narrow win behind LeVert who sealed the win with a clutch 3-pointer with just 5.7 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their past 11 games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the slumping Timberwolves in a 128-108 road win on Wednesday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 29 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points off the bench while Dwight Powell and Jalen Brunson each scored 16 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 48 percent from the field and 16 of 44 from the 3-point line as they led by just one point at halftime, before dominating in the second half where they poured in 72 points to win comfortably in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games and 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 6-16 ATS in their last 22 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Pacers are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Pacers were struggling for a while there, but they’ve come to life with three wins in their last four outings, while the Mavericks have won eight of their last 11 and are coming off a 20-point win over the Timberwolves. I was hoping to get more points for the Pacers in this spot, but with the line so short, I’m sticking with the more consistent Mavericks who are looking better with Porzingis taking on more responsibility offensively.
