The Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves duke it out at the Target Center on Friday night.

The Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Nuggets in a 123-106 road loss on Wednesday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 21 points, six rebounds and two blocks, Kendrick Nunn scored 16 points while Trevor Ariza and Jimmy Butler each scored 13 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Heat shot 49 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 11 points at halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where the Nuggets poured in 36 points to lead by as many as 22 points.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 11 of their past 15 games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting blown out by the Bucks in a 130-105 home loss on Wednesday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 24 points, Juan Hernangomez added 18 points on five of six shooting while D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 15 points and six assists off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 37 percent from the field and 15 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled early on and fell behind by 17 points going into halftime, before getting completely blown off the floor in the third quarter where the Bucks poured in 45 points to put the game out of reach early.

Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 5-17-1 ATS in their last 23 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Timberwolves are 18-37 ATS in their last 55 home games, 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the Heat are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings in Minnesota.

The Heat have been in decent form, but they will be eager to stop a two-game skid after running into the red-hot Nuggets on Wednesday. The Timberwolves haven’t been able to get anything going lately and they just got beaten by the shorthanded Bucks by 25 points in their last outing. The Heat have been far from convincing in their last two losses, but I think they can snap out of their funk with a solid win in this one.
