The San Antonio Spurs welcome the Portland Trailblazers to the AT&T Center on Friday night.

The Portland Trailblazers have been in a rut lately as they’ve lost five of their last seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after falling painfully short to the Celtics in a 116-115 home loss on Tuesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 28 points and 10 assists, Carmelo Anthony provided the spark off the bench with 25 points on 10 of 15 shooting while Norman Powell chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 47 percent from the field and 17 of 43 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to take the lead with 1:01 remaining, before falling just short after the Celtics’ Marcus Smart missed a pair of free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 15 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Raptors in a 117-112 road loss on Wednesday. Derrick White led the team with 25 points and five assists, Patty Mills added 23 points off the bench while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 19 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 42 percent from the field and 17 of 40 from the 3-point line as they just couldn’t get past the struggling Raptors who were missing their starting backcourt. Lonnie Walker scored just nine points on three of 10 shooting while Dejounte Murray scored just 11 points on four of 13 shooting.

Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Spurs are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record.

Head to head, the over is 36-17 in the last 53 meetings overall and the over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings in San Antonio.

The Trailblazers have cooled off lately with five losses in their last seven games and they will be eager to bounce back after falling to the Celtics by one point on Tuesday. The Spurs haven’t been able to get much going this month and they must be low on confidence after losing to the slumping Raptors on Wednesday. The Trailblazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and I think they snap out of their funk with a much-needed win in this one.
