The Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves collide at the Target Center on Wednesday night.

The Dallas Mavericks have been in strong form lately as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Trailblazers in a 132-92 road win on Sunday. Luka Doncic drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 37 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Josh Richardson added 21 points on eight of 11 shooting while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 19 of 37 from the 3-point line as they took control of the game with 38 points in the second quarter, before putting the game out of reach in the third quarter where they outscored the Trailblazers by an impressive 38-15.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a slump as they’ve lost 13 of their past 16 games and they will be hoping to steady the ship after getting stopped by the Thunder in a 112-103 home loss on Monday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 33 points and 10 rebounds, Anthony Edwards added 16 points, Jaylen Nowell scored 14 points off the bench while Ricky Rubio chipped in with 11 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 41 percent from the field and 14 of 39 from the 3-point line, but the problem was on the defensive end as they just couldn’t slow down the Thunder who drained an efficient 21 of 37 from the 3-point line.

Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points. The Timberwolves are 16-36-1 ATS in their last 53 home games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Mavericks are 17-7 ATS in the last 24 meetings in Minnesota and the Mavericks are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.

The Mavericks have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their 40-point win over the Trailblazers on Sunday, while the Timberwolves haven’t been able to build any momentum this season and they just lost to a shorthanded Thunder team. The Mavericks are -2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and I think that trend continues as they should be too good for the struggling Timberwolves in this spot.
