The Minnesota Timberwolves play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the Target Center on Monday night.

The Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling short to the Hornets in a 130-127 home loss last night. John Collins led the team with 31 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Kevin Huerter added 28 points on nine of 14 shooting while Trae Young chipped in with 25 points and 15 assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 51 percent from the field and 17 of 37 from the 3-point line as they allowed 38 points in the second quarter to fall behind early, before rallying in the fourth quarter to take the lead late, but it still wasn’t enough to get the job done as the Hornets responded with a decisive 12-1 run to steal the game late.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Nets in a 110-105 road loss on Friday. D’Angelo Russell led the team in scoring with 21 points and 11 assists, Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid each scored 19 points while Malik Beasley chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 38 percent from the field and 13 of 42 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 11-point lead, before coming up just short as they scored just six points in the final 6:18. Karl-Anthony Towns sat out the game with a bruise tailbone but is on track to rejoin the team on Monday.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Timberwolves are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Hawks are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and the Hawks are 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings in Milwaukee.

The Hawks must be frustrated coming into this meeting as they’ve now lost three of their last four after coming up painfully short to the Hornets last night. The Timberwolves are coming into this one as the team in better form as they’ve won seven of 10 and they were more than competitive against the Nets on Friday despite playing without Karl-Anthony Towns who is questionable along with D’Angelo Russell. The Hawks are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and I think they finally snap out of their funk with a much-needed win here.
