The Minnesota Timberwolves invade the Footprint Center to take on the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in decent form as they’ve won eight of their past 12 games overall, but they will be licking their wounds after falling short to the Warriors in a 124-115 road loss last night. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 31 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Anthony Edwards added 27 points with six assists while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 44 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start and took the lead going into halftime, before seeing all their hard work go to waste in the third quarter where the Warriors outscored them by 38-20. Towns had himself a great game, but D’Angelo Russell finished with just eight points on three of 10 shooting while Jaylen Nowell scored just 10 points on five of 16 shooting.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their past 12 games overall and they will be gunning for a ninth straight victory after beating the Jazz in a 105-97 road win on Wednesday. Devin Booker led the team with 43 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Chris Paul added 21 points with five assists while Bismack Biyombo chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Suns shot 48 percent from the field and seven of 18 from the 3-point line as they saw their early 21-point lead cut to just two points going into halftime, but they regrouped and held the Jazz to just 16 points in the third quarter to pull away and escape with the win.

Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 0-5 ATS in their last five road games, 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Suns are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games, 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 4-9-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings overall.

The Timberwolves have ruled out Patrick Beverley and they could be without D’Angelo Russell who suffered a left shin contusion last night, while the Suns will again be without Jae Crowder, JaVale McGee, Deandre Ayton and Cameron Payne. I expect Towns to have another big game for the Timberwolves, but it’s hard to pass up the Suns despite all their injuries as they’ve barely missed a step with Booker and Paul leading the way.
