The Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz collide in Game 3 at the Vivint Arena on Thursday night.
The Dallas Mavericks needed to respond after dropping the series opener and they did just that in their 110-104 win over the Jazz in Game 2. Jalen Brunson led the team with a career-high 41 points with eight rebounds and five assists on 15 of 25 shooting, Maxi Kleber drained eight 3-pointers to finish with 25 points off the bench while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 17 points and six assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and a sizzling 22 of 47 from the 3-point line as they struggled in the first half and trailed by 10 points in the second quarter, before they ambushed the Jazz with 62 points in the second half to get the much-needed victory without their best player, Luka Doncic.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz must have had thoughts of going up 2-0 in the series, but instead they find themselves going back home in an attempt to reclaim the series lead after coming up short in Game 2. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 34 points and five assists on 13 of 30 shooting, Bojan Bogdanovic added 25 points, Jordan Clarkson added 21 points on eight of 11 shooting while Royce O’Neale chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Jazz shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after taking the lead into halftime, but their defense let them down in the end as they leaked 33 points in the fourth quarter to come up just short in the end. Mike Conley had a nightmare of a game as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Jazz are 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 home games, 6-18-2 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.

The Mavericks could be shorthanded once again as Luka Doncic is currently listed as questionable for this one, so they will again be looking at players like Kleber, Brunson and Dinwiddie to pick up the scoring slack. The Jazz will be kicking themselves after dropping a game they should’ve won, but they remain heavy favorites in this matchup as long as Doncic sits out. I think the Jazz bounce back with a win at home, but the Mavericks are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and I think they hang around long enough to get the cover in this one.
