The Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out once again at the American Airlines Center on Sunday night.
The Denver Nuggets have cooled off a bit as they’ve lost three of their past four games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting run over by the Mavericks in a 127-99 road loss on Friday. Bruce Brown led the team in scoring with 18 points and seven assists, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points, Bones Hyland scored 17 points while Jeff Green chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 30 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Mavericks until the second quarter where they allowed 44 points to fall behind big. Things only got worse in the fourth quarter where they scored just 16 points to lose big in the end.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been on a nice run as they’ve won three of their past four games and they will be eager to stay hot after routing the shorthanded Nuggets on Friday. Luka Doncic led the way with a triple-double of 33 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists, Christian Wood added 28 points on 11 of 16 shooting off the bench while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-poiunt line as they took control with 44 points in the second quarter which allowed them to cruise in the second half where the lead ballooned to 31 points at one stage.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Mavericks are 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Nuggets are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Dallas.
The Nuggets will again be missing Jamal Murray, Ish Smith and Nikola Jokic but they could have Aaron Gordon back in the lineup, while the Mavericks are still without Maxi Kleber and Reggie Bullock. The Nuggets have really struggled without Jokic in the lineup and it’s hard to see how they can get revenge here. I’m sure it won’t be so easy this time, but I can’t see anything but another win for the Mavericks at home.
