The Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Lakers duke it out at the Arena on Friday night.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games and they will be hoping for a better performance in this one after getting blown out by the Clippers in a 126-105 road loss on Wednesday. LaMelo Ball led the team with a triple-double of 25 points with 11 rebounds and 12 assists, Mason Plumlee added 18 points on seven of nine shooting while Jalen McDaniels chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot just 40 percent from the field and nine of 31 from the 3-point line, but the writing was on the wall early in this one as the Hornets were already trailing by 71-40 going into halftime.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in a real funk as they’ve lost six of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to stop a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Kings in a 134-120 road loss on Wednesday. LeBron James led the way with 31 points and 11 assists, Lonnie Walker added 19 points, Dennis Schroder scored 18 points while Thomas Bryant chipped in with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Lakers shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 24 from the 3-point line, but they let themselves down on the defensive end as they allowed the Kings to explode for 81 points in the second and third quarters combined to trail by as many as 23 points at one stage.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Lakers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight home games, 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Hornets are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles and the Hornets are 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall.

The Hornets could be shorthanded again as Dennis Smith Jr and Terry Rozier are both questionable, while the Lakers are still without Anthony Davis and they are keeping an eye on Austin Reaves who is questionable. Neither team is coming into this one with any momentum, but the Hornets are 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall, so I’ll back the Lakers to get back on track with a much-needed win at home.
