The New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies meet Wednesday in NBA action at the FedExForum. The New York Knicks have lost 4 of their last 6 regular season openers. The Memphis Grizzlies have lost 3 of their last 4 regular season openers.

The New York Knicks won 37 games last year and enter the third season under coach Tom Thibodeau. The Knicks made one of the bigger offseason moves with the addition of Jalen Brunson, and it will be interesting to see if he can build on his playoff efforts with the Mavericks. RJ Barrett got his big contract, while Immanuel Quickley and Obi Toppin hope to take that next step in their third years. However, in order for the Knicks to be taken seriously, Julius Randle has to get back to the player he was a couple of years ago. Randle’s efficiency fell off a cliff last season, and that has to change. The Knicks still have a lack of top end talent, but they’re a sneaky playoff team in the East if things break right.

The Memphis Grizzlies won 56 games last year and enter the fourth season under coach Taylor Jenkins. The Grizzlies are a young team that returns pretty much all of the players who made last season possible. Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Dillion Brooks are the present and the future of the Grizzlies. They’re going to carry the Grizzlies as far as they go, and they also provide a bright outlook given they’re all 26 or younger. A second season of Ziaire Williams could do wonders in terms of depth, and Tyus Jones is coming off arguably his best season. The Grizzlies enter the season a year older, more mature and a tight group that believes it can truly make a run at an NBA title. This will once again be a fun season in Memphis.

The Knicks are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Grizzlies are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 home games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The under is 4-0 in Knicks last 4 overall. The over is 4-1 in Grizzlies last 5 Wednesday games. The over is 15-5 in the last 20 meetings in Memphis and 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.

The Memphis Grizzlies enter this game a bit banged up, but they still have enough depth and the best player on the court to get the job done. It’s a hide and watch approach I’m taking with the New York Knicks, as I’m just not convinced they’re capable of being an above average team. I’d need more points to look in the Knicks direction. It also doesn’t hurt that the Grizzlies were easily the most profitable team in the league last season. I’ll lay the reasonable number with the Grizzlies at home.
