The Milwaukee Bucks play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the Fiserv Forum on Sunday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a slump as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after falling short to the Raptors in a 105-100 road loss last night. Luka Doncic led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Dorian Finney-Smith added 16 points while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 15 points and seven assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they jumped out of the gates to an early 15-point lead, but they lost momentum in the second quarter and were always a step behind the rest of the way against an inspired Raptors team who were missing so many key players.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their past five games and they will be eager to stay hot after routing the Cavaliers in a 117-102 home win on Friday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 38 points, nine rebounds and six assists on 13 of 20 shooting, Jevon Carter added 18 points while Bobby Portis chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Bucks shot 50 percent from the field and 15 of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a slow start and trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half, before they turned the game on its head with a dominant 35-10 third quarter push to make it look easy in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The Bucks are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings in Milwaukee, the Mavericks are 15-4-2 ATS in the last 21 meetings overall and the Mavericks are 5-0-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Milwaukee.
The Mavericks don’t have a single player listed on the injury report which is a real luxury in the league these days, but it hasn’t translated into wins as they are coming into this meeting in worrying form. The Bucks have been plagued by injury from opening night and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their blowout win over the Cavaliers on Friday. The Mavericks would be tempting at the line under normal circumstances, but the frustration is building within the franchise, and I think it only gets worse as the Bucks get the win and cover at home behind another big game from Antetokounmpo.
