The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Detroit Pistons at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Heat in a 116-96 road win last night. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 31 points and five assists on 12 of 16 shooting, Alec Burks added 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench while Saddiq Bey chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 49 percent from the field and 19 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and trailed for most of the game, before they exploded for 69 points in the second half to make it look easy in the end. The Pistons’ reserves were the difference in this one as they outscored the Heat’s bench by 54-19.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 11 games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after routing the Nuggets in a 121-106 home win on Sunday. Jose Alverado drained eight 3-pointers to finish with 38 points off the bench, Zion Williamson added 25 points, six rebounds and four assists while Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 13 points on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Pelicans shot 50 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line as they suffered a slow start and trailed going into halftime, before they came to life with 62 points in the second half to win comfortably thanks to a late flurry.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pelicans are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days rest and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings in New Orleans and the Pistons are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in New Orleans.
The Pistons are missing Cade Cunningham once again, while the Pelicans have ruled out Herbert Jones and Brandon Ingram. The Pistons have come to life with four wins in their last eight games and they are coming into this one fresh off their best win of the season after routing the Heat last night. The Pelicans are coming into this one as the team in better shape and they will be looking to build on their four-game win streak. The Pelicans are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall and I think they can keep it going against an inconsistent Pistons team.
