The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a funk as they’ve lost six of their last nine games and they will be hoping to put an end to a three-game skid after falling short to the Heat in a 113-110 road loss on Monday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 29 points, six rebounds and seven assists, Naz Reid added 21 points with 11 rebounds off the bench while Jaden McDaniels chipped in with 16 points on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 54 percent from the field and 15 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and had to lean heavily on Edwards to keep them within striking distance, but they just couldn’t get the stops they needed despite going on a late run to cut a 12-point deficit to just two points in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in great form as they’ve won 10 of their last 14 games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight win after routing the Pacers in a 113-93 home win on Monday. Naji Marshall led the team in scoring with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists, Jonas Valanciunas added 20 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while CJ McCollum chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they dominated this one right from the start, holding the Pacers to just 18 points in the first quarter to take the early lead which ballooned to 29 points before they took their foot off the gas.

Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 0-7 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600. The Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win.

Head to head, the over is 14-3 in the last 17 meetings in New Orleans, the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in New Orleans.

The Timberwolves will again be without Taurean Prince and Kyle Anderson, while the Pelicans have ruled out Brandon Ingram, while Herbert Jones is listed as questionable. The Timberwolves could really do with a win to get back on track, but they haven’t been able to build any momentum and they didn’t look good for a majority of their loss to the Heat on Monday. The Pelicans are so banged up at the moment, but that hasn’t stopped them from blowing past the Pacers for their third straight win on Monday. The early money is going for the Timberwolves, but I’m sticking with the Pelicans to get the job done at home.
