The Memphis Grizzlies travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games overall, but they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Pelicans in a 132-111 home win on Friday. Dillon Brooks led the team with 25 points, Ja Morant added 23 points with 11 assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 20 points on six of seven shooting while Steven Adams tallied 15 points with 11 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and 18 of 38 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 44 points in the first quarter to open an early double-digit lead, before pouring in another 38 points in the third quarter to push the margin out to 36 points.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in fair shape as they’ve split their last six games, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after coming up just short to the Trail Blazers in a 132-129 overtime loss on Friday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 32 points on 10 of 22 shooting, Julius Randle added 23 points while RJ Barrett tallied 19 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 43 percent from the field and 13 of 41 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 14-point lead in regulation and they were always trailing in the overtime period where the Trail Blazers were just quicker to the punch with Anfernee Simons leading the way.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 0-6 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points. The Knicks are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 home games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 Sunday games.
Head to head, the over is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Grizzlies will again be shorthanded as they’ve listed Xavier Tillman is listed as questionable with an illness, while the Knicks will be keeping an eye on Jalen Brunson, Cam Reddish and Derrick Rose who are all listed as questionable for this one. These two squads last met on opening night and it was the Grizzlies who won by 115-112 in overtime back on Oct 19. Plenty has happened since that meeting, but I’m expecting a similar result as I have the Grizzlies escaping with a narrow win and cover against a Knicks team who could be missing their best player in Brunson.
