The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their first 11 games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back here after having their three-game win streak halted by the Celtics in a 109-106 loss on Monday. Ja Morant led the way with 30 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, Desmond Bane added 19 points and five assists while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 45 percent from the field and 15 of 44 from the 3-point line as they leaked 37 points in the second quarter to trail by as many as 14 points, which proved to be just too much to overcome as they cut the deficit to just one point with 3.5 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs started the season with five wins in their first seven games, but they’ve since cooled off and are now hoping to avoid a fifth straight defeat after losing to the Nuggets in a 115-109 defeat on Monday. Keldon Johnson led the way with 30 points on 12 of 20 shooting, Josh Richardson added 22 points on eight of 11 shooting off the bench, Tre Jones scored a career-high 20 points with nine assists while Devin Vassell chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Spurs shot 52 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to keep pace with the Nuggets, but they committed a total of 24 turnovers which cost them in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Spurs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 16-6 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio and the Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Grizzlies are still missing Jaren Jackson Jr and Ziaire Williams while Steven Adams is listed as questionable. The Spurs will again be without Zach Collins while Doug McDermott is listed as day to day. The Grizzlies were in great form before they ran into the red-hot Celtics on Monday, but I expect them to bounce back against this slumping Spurs team that have gone cold over their last four games.
