The Houston Rockets and the Utah Jazz duke it out at the Vivint Arena on Wednesday night.
The Houston Rockets have struggled so far this season, but they were able to put an end to a three-game skid with a 114-108 home win over the Jazz on Monday. Kevin Porter Jr. led the team with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Jalen Green added 25 points on nine of 16 shooting while Jalen Smith Jr. chipped in with 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Rockets shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line, but this win was actually set up by their defensive effort as they held the Jazz to just 18 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before scoring 37 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the much-needed win.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz were on a nice run before they got stopped by the Rockets on Monday. Jordan Clarkson led the team in scoring with 17 points, Lauri Markkanen added 14 points while Kelly Olynyk and Jarred Vanderbilt scored 13 points apiece. As a team, the Jazz shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they stayed in the contest despite struggling on the offensive end, but they kept shooting themselves in the foot with 20 turnovers which was the difference in a close contest.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Rockets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Utah.
The Rockets were finally able to get their first win of the season thanks to big games from Porter Jr, Green and Smith Jr, while the Jazz are now looking to bounce back after enjoying a perfect start to the season. The Rockets are keeping an eye on Jae’Sean Tate who is questionable, while the Jazz will again be without Udoka Azubuike. This should be another close one, but I like the Jazz to get their revenge at home with a win and cover here.
