The Los Angeles Clippers travel to the Vivint Arena to take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in great shape as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after last night’s 118-112 road win over the Trail Blazers. Norman Powell led the team with 32 points on 10 of 16 shooting in just 24 minutes off the bench, Reggie Jackson added 24 points with 12 assists while Robert Covington chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they struggled for most of the game and trailed by as many as 18 points before they came to life with 36 points in the fourth quarter to pull off yet another impressive comeback victory.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in a slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after falling short against the Bulls in a 114-107 loss on Monday. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 32 points and nine rebounds on 12 of 18 shooting, Kelly Olynyk added 23 points on eight of 13 shooting while Collin Sexton chipped in with 17 points and six assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 48 percent from the field and 19 of 49 from the 3-point line as they poured 33 points in the second quarter to take an early 11-point lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and never regained the lead after getting outscored by 33-20 in the third quarter. Jordan Clarkson had a night to forget as he finished with just eight points on three of 15 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on zero days rest. The Jazz are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Clippers are 9-24-1 ATS in the last 34 meetings in Utah.
The Clippers will be shorthanded again as John Wall, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are all listed as out, while the Jazz are still missing Mike Conley for this one. The Clippers haven’t missed a beat despite injuries to key players Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and they would’ve taken so much confidence from last night’s comeback win over the Trail Blazers where they looked dead and buried till the fourth quarter. The Jazz are coming into this one in poor form, but the Clippers are only 9-24-1 ATS in the last 34 meetings in Utah. This is a tough one to pick, but the shorthanded Clippers are playing their second game of a back to back set, so I’ll lean towards the Jazz to get the much-needed win at home.
