The Detroit Pistons travel to the American Airlines Center to battle the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be looking to bounce back after coming up just short to the lowly Rockets in a 117-114 home loss on Saturday. Alec Burks led the team with 21 points on six of 12 shooting, Bojan Bogdanovic added 18 points while Jaden Ivey chipped in with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 38 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 37 points in the first quarter to take a 14-point lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and couldn’t hold off the Rockets who poured in 34 points in the fourth quarter to snatch the game from them late.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in a slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 12 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the Jazz in a 108-100 road loss on Saturday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 35 points and eight assists, Reggie Bullock added 19 points on seven of 10 shooting off the bench while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and 18 of 46 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start and leaked 66 points in the first half to fall behind by 19 points which proved to be just too much to overcome in the end despite a rally from the Mavericks in the third quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Mavericks are 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Pistons are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.

The Pistons are shorthanded again as Marvin Bagley and Cory Joseph are both still out, while the Mavericks are still missing Christian Wood and they are keeping an eye on Luka Doncic who is questionable for this one. The Mavericks should have more than enough firepower to beat the Pistons even if Doncic sits out, but they’ve been in such poor form lately, so it’s hard to back them with any confidence. With that being said, I like the Mavericks to get the win, but I think the line is a little too generous, so I’ll take the Pistons with the points to keep this one close.
