The Orland Magic pay a visit to the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center on Tuesday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall, but they will be feeling much better after they snapped a three-game skid with a 126-114 overtime win over the Heat on Saturday. Wendell Carter Jr. led the team with 27 points and 11 rebounds on 12 of 17 shooting, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner each scored 17 points while Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs scored 16 points apiece. As a team, the Magic shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 15-point lead in regulation, before they made up for it in overtime where they held the Magic to just six points to earn the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a rut as they’ve lost three of their last four games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Thunder in a 102-90 loss on Sunday. Zach Collins led the team with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Devonte Graham added 20 points on eight of 16 shooting while Keita Bates-Diop chipped in wit 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 37 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense right from the start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind right away, before they went cold again in the fourth quarter to allow the Thunder to run away with it in the end. Devin Vassell had a rough game as he scored just six points on two of 10 shooting while Blake Wesley scored just two points on one of 12 shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 0-6 ATS in their last six games following a win, 15-6 ATS in their last 21 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Spurs are 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record, 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Magic are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Magic are still shorthanded as Jonathan Isaac is still out and Franz Wagner is listed as day to day, while the Spurs are keeping eyes on Tre Jones, Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson who are all day to day. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence these days, but the Magic have been the more consistent, they have almost a full roster and they just took down the Heat in a nice overtime win on Saturday. I’ll back the Magic to build on their win on Saturday with another win and cover here.
