The Minnesota Timberwolves pay a visit to the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Monday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 10 of their last 11 games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight win after blowing past the Bucks in a 138-119 home win on Saturday. Karl-Anthony Towns racked up 25 points with 11 rebounds and five assists, Anthony Edwards added 25 points on nine of 16 shooting, As a team, the Timberwolves shot 51 percent from the field and a sizzling 22 of 47 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 68 points in the first half, before going on a decisive 24-11 run in the third quarter to push the lead out to 24 points.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in fine form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to put an end to a two-game skid after getting routed by the Hornets in a 129-108 road loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 37 points on 13 of 20 shooting but he just didn’t get much help as Frank Ntilikina added just 12 points off the bench while Jalen Brunson and Marquese Chriss each scored 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Mavericks shot 43 percent from the field and 14of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Hornets right from the start, falling behind by nine points at halftime, before they leaked 41 points in the third quarter to fall behind by as many as 32 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 17-5-1 ATS in their last 23 games overall. The Mavericks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss of more than 10 points, 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Dallas and the Timberwolves are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.
The Timberwolves are sweating on the availability of Karl-Anthony Towns who is questionable for this one due to a right forearm contusion, while the Mavericks are still missing Tim Hardaway Jr. and Theo Pinson. You can make an argument for either side as both teams are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum, but the Timberwolves have been on fire lately and I think they can stay hot with another win if Towns is able to suit up in this one.
