The Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks duke it out at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.

The Utah Jazz have been in fine form to start the season as they’ve won six of their first eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Grizzlies in a 121-105 win on Monday. Lauri Markkanen led the way with 31 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, Malik Beasley added 18 points off the bench while Mike Conley and Collin Sexton each scored 15 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 47 percent from the field and 19 of 47 from the 3-point line as they dominated the second quarter by 38-18 to take a 17-point lead into halftime, which grew to 25 points in the third quarter where they scored another 36 points.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have yet to find their groove as they’ve split their first six games and they were far from convincing in their 114-105 win over the slumping Magic. Luka Doncic has hit the ground running this season and led the way once again with 44 points on 17 of 26 shooting, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points off the bench while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they leaked 34 points to start the game before methodically taking apart the Mavericks behind the hot hand of Doncic. Christian Wood has been in fine form for his new team but had a quiet game of just five points on two of six shooting.

Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 8-22-1 ATS in their last 31 road games and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games playing on one days rest. The Mavericks are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days rest.

Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Jazz are 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and the Jazz are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Dallas.

The Jazz have been one of the surprise teams of the league so far and they will be coming into this one with plenty of confidence after taking down the Grizzlies on Monday, while the Mavericks have yet to hit their stride this season and they will be shorthanded as Frank Ntilikina and Davis Bertans are both out while Christian Wood is considered questionable for this one. The betting trends favor the Mavericks in this one, but the line seems just a couple points too high, so I’ll lean towards the Jazz to keep this one close at the end.
