The Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Clippers collide at the crypto.com Arena on Sunday night.
The Phoenix Suns will be looking to return to winning form after coming up just short to the Trail Blazers in a 113-111 overtime road loss on Friday. Devin Booker led the team with 33 points on 11 of 23 shooting, DeAndre Ayton added 26 points while Mikal Bridges tallied 13 points with seven rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Suns shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they blew an early 12-point lead and survived a shot from Damian Lillard at the end of regulation, but with game on the line, it was actually the Trail Blazers’ Anfernee Simons who burned them with the game-winning shot.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers are aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Kings in a 111-109 road win last night. Paul George led the way with 40 points, six rebounds and six assists, Reggie Jackson added 14 points with five assists while Luke Kennard chipped in with 11 points off the bench. As a team, the Clippers shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 22 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed at halftime, before they took control with 34 points in the third quarter to pull away and escape with the narrow win. Norman Powell had a forgettable night as he finished with just four points on one of 10 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Los Angeles and the Suns are 4-11 ATS in the last 15 meetings in Los Angeles.
The Suns kicked off their season with a revenge win over the Mavericks, but they’ve been left with a bitter taste in their mouths after losing by two points to the Trail Blazers in overtime. The Clippers were good enough to get past the Kings last night despite a poor game from Powell, but it’s going to be tough to back that effort up against this Suns team. This should be a close one, but I like the Suns as underdogs in this spot.
